The Therapy Through Play (TTP) program run by We Rock The Spectrum (WRTS) Express Bangsar in collaboration with The Energy Source is back, for the third successive year! TTP is a program aimed to provide families with autistic children an opportunity to build their skills and confidence so they can conduct therapeutic activities with and for their own child(ren). TTP hopes to ease the needs of families with autistic children, by providing a customized program for sensory integration, with training and support by qualified therapists for parents/caregivers to do therapeutic activities, both at the WRTS gym as well as at home.

The first subsidised TTP program for B40 families by WRTS was launched in 2019, at the WRTS Ara Damansara branch. Although the WRTS Gym has since relocated to Bangsar, the program is still being carried out. The idea to cater for the B40 group came from Nori Abdullah, co-founder of WRTS branches in Malaysia, who herself is a mother to a child with autism. Realising the need to empower parents with useful information to become their children’s therapists whilst playing with them, she spearheaded this program to secure the necessary funding for this initiative.

For the past 2 years, this program has been made available for B40 families meeting the selection criteria, for free, subsidised by Yayasan Hasanah and Prihatin. This year, in addition to B40 families, M40 families will be given the opportunity to apply for this program. The full program fee is valued at RM2,800, whereby the B40 families will enjoy it fully subsidised with an allowance, whilst M40 families will be required to pay 50% of the fees to be paid in 4 installments. The following are the criteria for application to the program:

  • child(ren) diagnosed with autism
  • Aged 3 – 12 years
  • Residing in within the Klang Valley

The TTP program includes an initial screening, 10 sessions of a customised program at WRTS Express Bangsar, review and summary from certified therapists as well as parent workshops and training videos with support materials. The next round of TTP begins in April. To apply for this program, contact WRTS Express Bangsar via Whatapp at +6010-939 5711 or Facebook here or Instagram here.
