The Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation’s National Centre (KDSF – NC) was founded in 1989. It is no secret, that most parents with a child who has Downs Syndrome, are often directed to KDSF for support, intervention and care. While Kiwanis around the world aims to Serve the Children of the World, in Malaysia, the name has become quite synonymous with Down Syndrome.

The KDSF-NC is known to have long waiting lists, not only due to the quality of service provided but for the the affordability factor. This is because, the fees paid by parents / caregivers are minimal. The bulk of the cost is raised by Malaysia’s oldest Kiwanis Club – the Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur (KCKL). Annually, KCKL organises a charity-fundraising treasure hunt. This year, it is called the The Ruby Trail – 40th Kiwanis Treasure Hunt. It will take place from 23 – 25 September from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan.

Since the first Kiwanis motor treasure hunt flagged-off by our Bapa Kiwanis, Tan Sri Khir Johari in 1984, Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur (KCKL) has, without fail, continued to organise this signature fundraising project annually to raise funds for the club’s Service Projects. The Kiwanis Treasure Hunt has brought together members of KCKL, like-minded volunteers, donors, sponsors and fun-loving treasure hunters throughout the years with the goal of doing their bit for the community. Along the way, it has also brought joy and great friendships among all who got involved.
