Hello everyone!
Have you ever felt pressured to stay positive, even in your lowest moments? Or have you ever had someone remind you to be grateful for all the good things you have in life when you are experiencing that life is giving up on you? There’s nothing wrong with positive advice. Positivity is good. However, toxic positivity can be quite detrimental to our own well being in the long run.
Toxic positivity is a belief that one must stay positive no matter how challenging or dire a situation is. Most of us are no stranger to this, especially when we have a child with special needs. Well meaning people shower us with positive, life affirming statements, often overlooking the need for our challenges to be acknowledged.
Desiree & Saiqa ~ Supporting U is back in August, discussing the topic of Toxic Positivity. Let’s talk about what this means to us and how we mitigate it. The session is free and limited to only caregivers / parents with special needs children. Details as follows:
Date: 11 August 2023, Friday
Time: 9:00 pm

We look forward to seeing U.
